Ghising

one of the tallest statues in the world, located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. This towering statue represents Amitabha Buddha (known as Amida Buddha in Japan), a central figure in Pure Land Buddhism. Standing at approximately 120 meters (394 feet) including its base, the Ushiku Daibutsu was completed in 1993 and is renowned for its immense size and serene presence.

The statue features Buddha with one hand raised in the gesture of fearlessness (Abhaya Mudra) and the other in a welcoming posture. The figure is positioned on a lotus platform, symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening. The blue sky in the background contrasts beautifully with the statue’s greyish-brown tones, highlighting its imposing and peaceful appearance.
