I purchased a 1968 Mustang in 2020. It had been restored to original in 2013. I drove the car very little for three years. Total miles on the car since restoration about 900. The restoration job was nice. Driving it however, was vintage 1968 with all the amenities and technologies of a 56-year-old car. After short drives, getting out of the Mustang and getting into any other car was like getting into a Bentley. It did not steer or brake well, it leaked fuel and oil. It had a 390 which was responsive in its day. After having two modern Shelby GT500’s, the 390 was not hot. And, my garage smelled like an oil slick.

About two years ago I began to search for an entire drivetrain replacement. It also needed modern brakes and modern power steering. There was no question the 56-year-old electrical system was probably a fire trap and needed to go, particularly in view of a leaking fuel system. My search pulled up some impressive local shops. However, those impressive local shops were far too busy to deal with me. So, I began to search elsewhere. Research came up with Prestige Motorsports in Concord and Salisbury, North Carolina. I was impressed with the data which I was able to find on the Internet. I called Mark, the shop manager. We had some discussions and I agreed to ship the car from Oregon to North Carolina. So, on October 2, 2023 the car was picked up by enclosed transport arranged by Prestige Motorsports. The car arrived in North Carolina in perfect condition a few days later. Extremely easy arrangement and transport.

The following is a list of what I had done:

1) Brand-new 351 Windsor block stroked to 427 c.i.d. 500+ hp, Holley fuel injected motor.
2) New Tremec five speed overdrive transmission with hydraulic clutch.
3) All new custom headers
4) All new custom Magnaflow exhaust system
5) All new Wilwood brakes and master cylinder.
6) All new modern Borgeson power steering
7) All new fuel system and fuel tank
8) the car was rewired from headlight to taillight-PERFECTLY.
9) And put back together perfectly.

I flew to North Carolina the first week in October 2024 to inspect my new car and to meet the shop manager and technicians. Mark is the shop manager. I of course had multiple conversations over the months with Mark and in quick order had all my questions answered every time. If there were any changes that needed to be made either because of a bad part or system failure he quickly brought me up-to-date, told me what was needed and got the job done. He is really a super person to deal with, especially when you live 3300 miles away. There is a certain amount of insecurity regarding that distance, and trust is a huge item. I would say Mark is the most trustworthy shop foreman I have ever dealt with in 50 years. I was introduced to Chance and Berry, the technicians who worked on my car. They gave me a complete show of what was done on the car. Their work is top drawer. When they opened that car’s hood with the motor running, I am like “SAY WHAT”!!! I’ve never seen anything like that available to a consumer. Especially with the ease of a phone call conversation. After its original restoration it looked new. It looks better than new now. It looks very complicated, the work was obviously encumbering and difficult to do. I can only say I am truly amazed. The work was done to perfection, and that is not just rhetoric.

Shawn, the head of marketing, did a very thorough first-class job in presenting the car, after completion, to me and on the company blog. There is not one of the shops where I live that would’ve given me the service and the entirety of the job to this level of perfection, not to mention the time of day. Let’s not forget about trustworthiness.

I’m sure the one thing that sticks out in most people’s minds who read this is:

Shipping a car from Oregon to North Carolina and not being able to see the process …. “Just put your feet up and have a Coke and a smile!!”

No doubt about it, if I need more work is going back to them.

I don't even know where to start, when I couldn't find a machine shop around me to my liking I started to reach out and look around. I stumbled across Prestige's web site as it pulled me in, I made my 1st call to them a few months back and spoke with Doug, his knowledge and excitement got me right out of the gate, NO fooling around straight to the point, I like that. After talking for twenty minutes or so I told him that I would get back in touch with him in a couple of days. I did a little research on them, made a few calls even to the Better Business borough, what I found out was all good.
Keep in mind that they are 1000 miles away from me and I haven't even seen their shop. After a couple more phone call with Doug I decided this was the way to go. Doug helped with my decisions on what was going inside the engines.
The contact and communication are far better than I thought it would be, Once Shawn got involved with the photos and updates it all came alive. I must also say that their service manager was a great contact as well and they give you all their direct phone numbers.
Long story short I will tell all my friends and fellow Cigarette boat owners that there is no other place to go for new engines.

Thank you, guys,
Best

I ordered a 347 stroker with a 4R70W transmission package about a year ago. It is for a 67 mustang that I put a TCP front clip and glink rear suspension in. It was a project but turned out great. The easiest part was the purchase from Prestige. The kit was 100% complete and the engine runs great. I had several calls with Doug getting everything running smooth and appreciated his help. Can’t speak highly enough about this group.

Hello there Shawn, thanks for the additional "Beauty" shots of my completed and dyno tested engine package.!!!
The Video was "sweet"!!!

As for how I learned of, and eventually chose Prestige Motorsports, I had internet searched for "crate" engines, for some time.

Then I talked at length, specifically with reps from ATK, Coast Performance and Engine Factory right here in NJ, and a few others..

I'm a cautious and deliberate person, so I did pepper each of them with many tech questions, just as I did when I contacted Prestige, and worked with Jason Lyles on your team.

Jason, was very patient with me, though he also provided very detailed, and timely answers to all of my questions, without attitude or fatigue.. (I can be quite challenging in this regard).

I cannot speak highly enough of Jason, in his capacity here.

Once I received my quotes, I was most comfortable, with the details included with Jason's work.

While mulling over the various quotes, from an eBay guy of $5,500, to ATK at like $9,500, to Coast Performance at like $10,500 and lastly Engine Factory, right here in NJ, they were around $15,000, all, for a complete, fully dressed, and tested engine alone. No accessory drive. More money, if it were to be shipped to me, and not picked up, (which I easily could of done).

I then was searching YouTube, for builders Dyno videos, and after just a few, the 1st of many Prestige Dyno sessions popped up, and I liked the format, I then did this for several days, watching yours and many competitors dyno sessions as well..

I was not concerned with any peak HP or TQ numbers, mostly with the video production quality, and more importantly, the tech details provided for each customers engine combo that had been tested..

Finally, I then read many internet tech forums, and chats for the different engine suppliers, including their dyno video chats as well.

While, if your looking, you can always find a negative comment or two from someone, somewhere, with most any engine dealer on the web, though Prestige Motorsports had the most consistent "positive" commentary out there.

And even if a problem had occurred with a particular Prestige engine build, the issue seemed to be handled quickly, and to the customer/posters satisfaction.

In the end, I could of spent $8,000 or $9,000 grand with BluePrint, being the perceived "volume" leader for "crate" engines, for a dressed SBF 347, I was ultimately more comfortable spending a little more, for a truly custom engineered, complete engine, induction, ignition (including the matching ignition box and coil as well), and a integrated accessory drive system package,(Vintage Air Front Runner), for a fully vetted, and tested drop in, solution for my dream project.

Thank you, very much.!!!

Take care..

Prestige Motorsports has built two engines for me a 351/427 small block and a 390FE 427 with dual carbs. Their communication, pictures and information during the build was second to none. The USB card they provide with all the engine information at the conclusion of the build is very professional and a great way to document the build process. The fit and finish of the engines are world class. I am positive I will have more engines built in the future by Prestige.

When looking for a replacement Marine Engine I did my research and chose Prestige. I can't say enough about Doug and his team. They have truly made this a great experience. The process was extremely positive, customer service and detail focused.
Called and emailed Doug several times and he is always very helpful. If you want it done right reach out to Doug and his team. Doug and I discussed some initial objectives, they delivered a 500+ HP 396 small block with Holley EFI. I had the Boat out for some initial testing this fall and runs very strong. Interior and flooring next.
Doug was on the phone with me during initial startup, logged in remotely and we did a start up and tune at the get go. After getting things dialed in spent some time with Justin also doing some remote Holley Tuning. Exceptional and willing to help. Doug and group can build it and follow thru all the way to tuning and start up in your project.
Thanks Doug, Senior, Shawn, Justin, and Group!
